Susan Kouzel has been a Registered Dietitian since 2016. She has experience working at the PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care as the nutrition director. She is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and is passionate about helping individuals struggling with eating disorders, of any kind, to redefine their relationship with food. After nearly a decade in the field and realizing eating disorders actually have very little to do with food, Susan decided to pursue her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is expected to graduate in 2025. Susan holds true to the “all foods fit” nutrition philosophy, implementing principles of balance, variety, and body wisdom. She practices from a weight inclusive lens and works to educate other healthcare providers in hopes to be a part of changing the way we speak about food and bodies. Susan’s passion projects include speaking events at middle school and high schools and educating teachers and school counselors on how to safely convey nutrition and health information to children and adolescents. Susan graduated with a Bachelors in Nutrition from Radford University in 2015. She completed her dietetic internship in Asheville, North Carolina at Lenoir Rhyne University in 2016, where she specialized in children and adolescent nutrition. She is a CEDS (Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) through IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals). She is a member of IAEDP and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In her spare time, Susan enjoys aerial yoga, scary movies, and spending time with her fiance and rescue Plott hound, Charlie. She is an avid animal lover. Susan believes in a highly individualized treatment approach, walking alongside clients to help them navigate the process of healing mind, body, and spirit.
